Skipper Jeremy Bagshaw

 

Jeremy first started sailing at the age of five. As a teenager he represented the Rhodesian National Sailing Team and the Eastern Cape Youth Team (South Africa). He has notched up 27 years of coastal passage making and racing along the South African East Coast as skipper and crew.

 

 

 

 

Notable accomplishments include skippering the winning yacht in the Governor’s Cup Yacht Race from Cape Town to St Helena in 2008 and co-skippering the winning multihull yacht in the Governor’s Cup Yacht Race from Simon’s Town to St Helena in 2010.

He has a law degree and has managed and owned businesses in South Africa and the United Arab Emirates including a sailing charter business in the Arabian Gulf, tourist accommodation and a successful Builders’ Merchant. Based in Simonstown, Cape Town, Jeremy takes time out from his business pursuits to keep exploring the oceans – often accompanied by one of his three children. He and his wife Anita cruised the Tierra del Fuego area of Patagonia in 2007. Yacht deliveries have taken him to Malaysia, Tunisia, Canary Islands, the Cape Verdes, the British Virgin Islands and all over the Indian Ocean including Chagos, Mauritius, Rodrigues and Reunion.
